About this opportunity
The Department of State is seeking to procure a new Biological Safety Cabinet (BSC) for its mailroom, designed to replace an outdated Labconco 2015 model. The procurement focuses on acquiring a custom-designed 6' XPERT filtered Balance System with a Guardian LED Monitor, a stainless steel surface with a deep spill trough, and a 72" telescoping base stand with casters. The primary objectives of this equipment are to streamline mail handling operations, reduce labor time, and accommodate growing mail volume by allowing full USPS mail trays to be positioned within the BSC without disrupting airflow. While specific evaluation criteria are not explicitly detailed in the pre-solicitation notice, the agency emphasizes compliance with federal anti-discrimination laws as a material consideration. The procurement is classified under PSC Category AN35-P, which relates to health research and development services, consumer and occupational health and safety, and research facilities and major equipment.
This pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designations for the contract, suggesting it is open to all qualified contractors. The solicitation involves purchasing one (1) quantity of each specified equipment component, with pricing to include dock-to-dock shipping. No specific award value or budget range is mentioned in the notice. The posting date is February 13, 2025, though no specific deadlines for questions or proposal submissions are provided. The contractor will be required to certify compliance with federal anti-discrimination laws and confirm they do not operate any programs promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion that might violate these laws. The equipment's technical specifications suggest a sophisticated procurement aimed at improving the efficiency and safety of mail processing operations within the Department of State's facilities.
