About this opportunity
The Department of the Interior's Interior Business Center (IBC), Acquisition Services Directorate (AQD) has issued a Special Notice regarding the planned closeout of expired federal contracts. This notice, posted on June 16, 2025, pertains to 36 contracts that have completed their periods of performance, are fully invoiced, and maintain zero remaining balances. The contracts listed span various service areas including technology, diagnostics, publishing, and consulting services, with performance periods primarily between 2023-2025. The affected contractors range from small businesses to large corporations such as Dell Marketing L.P. and Quest Diagnostics Clinical. Contract types include predominantly Firm Fixed Price agreements, along with Labor Hours, Time and Materials, and Fixed Price with Economic Price Adjustment structures.
The primary purpose of this notice is to comply with FAR 4.804 requirements by providing advance notification to contractors before initiating unilateral contract closeouts. Contractors have until June 30, 2025, to respond if they prefer a bilateral closeout modification or have valid reasons to prevent the closeout action. The unilateral closeout process will commence ten business days after the posting date, allowing contractors a brief window to contact the designated point of contact. No specific eligibility criteria apply since this notice targets existing contractors with completed contracts rather than soliciting new participants. The initiative represents standard administrative procedures to formally close contracts that have fulfilled their obligations, ensuring proper contract administration and regulatory compliance across the Department of the Interior's diverse service portfolio.
