About this opportunity

The Department of the Interior Fish and Wildlife Service has issued a Special Notice regarding its intent to award a sole source contract to the Alaska Nannut Co-Management Council (ANCC) for consulting services to draft a harvest management plan for the co-management of polar bears in Alaska.

The purpose of this contract is to maintain ANCC staff, secure legal counsel as needed, arrange travel and logistics for ANCC meetings, arrange ANCC representation at both domestic and international meetings related to polar bear management, and arrange meetings in ANCC communities to conduct outreach and further efforts related to the draft Co-Management Agreement and draft Chukchi Sea Polar Bear Harvest Management Plan. ANCC has been determined to be the only firm capable of providing these services as they have the legal authority to represent the 15 tribal governments in Alaska that engage in the annual subsistence taking of polar bears from the Alaska-Chukotka population. Contractors who disagree with this sole source determination may submit their arguments and statements of capability by June 4, 2024 at 10:00 AM Pacific Time.
