About this opportunity
The Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) has issued a Notice of Intent to Sole Source to Daedalus Innovations for the purchase of an Overburden Rock Core Cell (DBCH-OXFORD MOUNT KIT). This special notice, posted on March 10, 2026, represents NETL's intention to award a purchase order on a sole source basis under Federal Acquisition Regulation Part 12 for commercial products and services. NETL has determined that Daedalus Innovations is the only known source capable of providing equipment compatible with the agency's existing GeoSpec 12/53 NMR Rock Core Analyzer. The notice falls under the Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing category (NAICS 334516) and the Laboratory Equipment and Supplies PSC category (6640).
The primary objective of this sole source notice is to ensure satisfactory operation of NETL's existing GeoSpec 12/53 NMR Rock Core Analyzer through acquisition of compatible equipment. Interested parties who believe they can meet NETL's requirements must submit written evidence of their capability to the Contract Specialist, Arturo Manantan, at arturo.manantan@netl.doe.gov by 5:00 PM ET on March 25, 2026. Only email submissions will be accepted; telephone responses are not permitted. While this notice is not a request for quotes or proposals, any responses received will be evaluated solely to determine whether the Government should pursue a competitive procurement rather than proceeding with the sole source award. The Government retains full discretion to decide whether to compete this requirement based on the responses submitted.
