About this opportunity

The Department of Energy's National Energy Technology Laboratory issued a notice of intent to sole source a purchase order to Synopsys+Ansys for annual ANSYS Technology Pool Software, with a deadline of July 31, 2026, for interested parties to demonstrate capability to meet the requirement. NETL states that Synopsys+Ansys is the only known source authorized to provide the software based on market research conducted. NETL requires the ANSYS Technology Pool to support simulation geometry creation using Design Modeler, meshing with ANSYS CFD PrepPost, parallel simulations using FLUENT solvers and HPC processors, and post-processing with FLUENT and CFD PrepPost tools. The package includes additional ANSYS tools for digital twin development and post-processing related to coal utilization and cybersecurity, as well as access to ANSYS databases. NETL has used ANSYS software for over ten years and maintains a library of models and user-defined functions (UDFs) based on this platform; continued compatibility with these existing models necessitates the sole source award. Any party believing it is capable of meeting NETL's requirements must provide evidence of capability by 3:00 PM EDT on the posted deadline. The estimated value is $47.0 million under NAICS 513210 (Software Publishers) and PSC DA10 (Business Application Software).
