About this opportunity
The U.S. Coast Guard issued a notice of intent to award a sole-source, firm-fixed-price contract to Marine Jet Power for marine jet propulsion field service technician support, with a response deadline of September 18, 2026. The estimated contract value is $8,366.00. The Coast Guard determined that Marine Jet Power is the only responsible source capable of fulfilling the requirement due to proprietary technical knowledge and OEM parts access for Ultra Jet system correction; the manufacturer's proprietary data rights prevent independent engineering determination, and unqualified alternatives could cause significant damage or unsafe conditions. The requirement involves troubleshooting and repairs to waterjet propulsion electrical control and steering systems to restore a marine jet propulsion unit's operational capability to Coast Guard specifications. The sole-source justification was conducted under FAR 12.102(a) and FAR Class Deviation 25-21 Rev. 1 for simplified procedures applicable to commercial acquisitions at or below the Simplified Acquisition Threshold. Fair and reasonable pricing was established through comparison with multiple prior Marine Jet Power purchases. The contractor is located at 6740 Commerce Court Drive, Blacklick, Ohio 43004-9200. The NAICS code is 333618 (Other Engine Equipment Manufacturing) and PSC is 2815 (Diesel Engines and Components).
