About this opportunity

The Naval Supply Systems Command Weapon Systems Support (NAVSUP-WSS), a component of the Department of the Navy, published this Notice of Intent on January 7, 2026, to announce its intention to sole source a contract for the evaluation, repair, and/or modification of a specific item identified by National Item Identification Number (NIIN) 014438388. The government intends to negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, as the government does not possess or cannot provide the data necessary to perform the required repairs or manufacture of the item. This Notice of Intent is being issued to provide transparency regarding the government's contracting plans and to allow other responsible sources an opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities before a final source selection decision is made. The contracting officer for this opportunity is Derek Ford, and the NAVSUP-WSS office is located in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.

All responsible contractors interested in this acquisition have until January 14, 2026—15 days from the Notice's publication date—to submit capability statements demonstrating their ability to perform the required repairs and modifications. Contractors not currently approved as sources by NAVSUP-WSS must submit a Source Approval Request package along with their proposal, following the guidelines provided in the NAVSUP-WSS Source Approval Information Brochure for Repair, which is available on the Naval Supply Systems Command website. While the government retains sole discretion to determine whether to compete this contract or proceed with sole-source negotiations, all timely responses will be considered. Source approval is required for contract award, and the government will not delay the award process while source approval is pending. The item is subject to Free Trade Agreements Act and World Trade Organization Government Procurement Agreement provisions; however, given the government's intent to sole source, these trade agreement requirements are not anticipated to apply to the resulting contract award.
