About this opportunity

The United States Marine Corps, through Marine Corps Base Hawaii's Qualified Recycling Program and Regional Contracting Office Hawaii, is conducting a sale of surplus metal scrap consisting of an estimated 12,500 to 15,000 pounds of aluminum and 7,500 to 10,000 pounds of steel. Bids were due electronically by January 1, 2026 at 10:00 am Hawaii Standard Time to QRP Manager Patrick Crile and Alternate QRP Manager Captain Ryan LaLonde, with an anticipated award date of January 5, 2026. The award will be made to the highest bidder offering the best price per pound who can fully execute the agreement and meet all terms and conditions. Key requirements for bidders include scheduling a pre-bid material inspection, submitting company information with an authorized representative, complying with Marine Corps Base Hawaii access requirements (including driver's license, vehicle registration, insurance, and vehicle searches), and payment via cashier's or certified check to the U.S. Department of Treasury. Purchasers must remove materials within 14 days of notification under "as-is, where-is" terms with the government assuming no liability for the materials' condition or potential hazardous properties. The solicitation permits a 5 percent quantity variation and establishes that bidders who default may be restricted from future sales for up to one year.
