About this opportunity

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) awarded a five-year Indefinite-Delivery Indefinite-Quantity (IDIQ) contract worth $5,800,000 to Applanix Corporation for specialized positioning and navigation systems. The contract covers Applanix POS AV and POS MV systems that provide georeferenced airborne sensor data for NOAA aircraft and precise position, heading, attitude, heave and velocity data for NOAA ships and their remote sensing equipment. The award also includes Applanix PP-RTX technology for highly precise post-processing of GNSS data without requiring dedicated base stations, which is critical for NOAA's operations in remote areas. The ordering period runs from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2030, with NOAA justifying the sole source procurement due to the unique technical capabilities of Applanix systems and the prohibitive cost of replacing existing equipment estimated at over $1,500,000.

Notice text

NOAA utilizes the Applanix POS AV and POS MV respectively to provide georeferenced airborne
sensor data utilized by NOAA Aircraft and deliver precise position, heading, attitude, heave and
velocity data for NOAA ships and their remote sensing equipment. This also assists NOAA in
tracking the position of its vessels and aircraft. The Applanix PP-RTX allows for highly precise
post-processing of GNSS data without the need for a dedicated base station on-site which is
critical for NOAA to operate aerially and in remote areas.

Awarded contract 1305M225D0020 to Applanix Corporation for 5800000.00 on 2025-08-22.
