About this opportunity

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineering District Los Angeles is seeking a contractor for maintenance dredging operations at Newport Bay Harbor. The project involves removing approximately 700,000 cubic yards of material suitable for ocean disposal, which will be placed at the LA-3 Ocean Disposal Management Site, and an additional 120,000 cubic yards of material designated for placement within the Port of Long Beach Pier G Slip Fill Project. Contractors will need expertise in heavy civil engineering construction, specifically dredging facilities, as indicated by the NAICS code 237990. The procurement is currently in the pre-solicitation phase, with proposals due by May 28, 2025, following the initial posting on March 27, 2025. Evaluation criteria will likely focus on technical capability, experience in marine dredging operations, environmental compliance, and project management skills.

This contract opportunity is not designated for any specific set-aside category, meaning it is open to all qualified contractors. While specific budget details are not provided, the substantial volume of material and complex disposal requirements suggest a significant contract value. The project involves precise maritime engineering work that will require specialized marine construction equipment and environmental management capabilities. Potential bidders should have demonstrated experience in large-scale dredging projects, particularly those involving ocean disposal and complex material placement strategies. The contract will be administered by the Department of the Army Corps of Engineers, with the primary objective of maintaining navigational channels and supporting coastal infrastructure development in the Newport Bay Harbor region.
