About this opportunity

This Limited/Sole Source Justification Notice was published by the Department of the Army Materiel Command Joint Munitions Command on August 10, 2020 for network data aggregation and demarcation point data center services to be provided at two locations within 200 miles of key government network points of presence. The solicitation seeks to provide reliable and secure data connectivity and risk management through data center services and tools in Ashburn, Virginia and Chicago, Illinois, with the configuration allowing for manual reconfiguration of primary network paths if needed. Contract number W52P1J20C0031 for these services was awarded to an unknown vendor for an unknown value on August 6, 2020.

Notice text

The current effort consists of a data center and colocation hosting services at two locations:  Ashburn, VA (alternate contingency of operations (COOP) site) and Chicago, IL (primary operational site). Services include the use of data center services and management tools to provide a location for reliable and secure data connectivity between Government and various commercial networks. Two facilities are required as a risk management measure which requires the data transport equipment to be located at different facilities in the event of a system failure/catastrophic event at the primary location to support contingency operations. In the event of a failure in Chicago or on the Chicago/Rock Island links, the Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) session will become inactive leaving only the routes recorded through Ashburn/Ft. Belvoir session. The traffic will dynamically transition to the backup path through route convergence. The configuration also allows for manual reconfiguration if there is a need to force Ashburn/Ft. Belvoir to become the primary Government’s Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRnet) path. The potential for manual reconfiguration necessitates the geographical need for the data center to be within a 200 mile radius of the Governments NIPRNET points of presence at the Rock Island Arsenal (RIA), IL and Fort (Ft.) Belvoir, VA.

Awarded contract W52P1J20C0031 to unknown vendor for unknown amount on 2020-08-06.
