About this opportunity

This Research Announcement from NASA, NIH, HHS BARDA, and FDA seeks proposals to develop 3D tissues and microphysiological systems with extended longevity of at least six months to model acute and chronic exposures to stressors. Awards of up to $500,000 per year for four years, totaling $2 million per award, will be provided to 6 to 10 principal investigator-led contracts. Proposals will be evaluated based on technical merit and relevance to modeling the effects of stressors over prolonged periods, with preproposals due June 28, 2021 and final proposals due September 14, 2021.

No set-aside designation is specified. Proposals are sought from all eligible non-governmental organizations under NAICS codes 541715 and PSC code R425 to adapt existing 3D tissues and microphysiological systems. The anticipated total funding range for this multi-agency effort is $12-20 million. Awards of up to $2 million over four years will be provided to support the development of technologies demonstrating at least six months of viability for biomedical applications involving acute and chronic stressor exposures.
