About this opportunity
The National Institute of Standards and Technology seeks quotations for two narrow-linewidth fiber lasers with proposals due August 3, 2026. This is a total small business set-aside under FAR Part 12, with NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing) and a 1,000-employee size standard.
Place of performance is Boulder, Colorado. The Physics Measurement Laboratory, Ion Storage Group requires lasers tunable across a range including 1071.18 nm and 1071.36 nm with spectral linewidth below 3 kHz, output power 20 mW or greater, PM fiber-coupled output with FC/APC connector, and polarization extinction ratio of at least 20 dB. Additional performance specifications include relative intensity noise at 1 MHz of −110 dB/Hz, signal-to-noise ASE ratio of 65 dB or greater at 50 pm bandwidth, side mode suppression ratio exceeding 50 dB, and power stability below 1 percent RMS over 8 hours or longer. The laser shall operate as a single frequency device with thermal tuning covering the specified wavelength range and piezo tuning providing a minimum 100 MHz range with modulation speeds exceeding 20 kHz. All control electronics, software, and manuals are included. Delivery, installation, and training must be completed within twelve weeks of order receipt, with government acceptance expected within fourteen days.
Award will be made using Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) evaluation based on Technical Capability (Acceptable/Unacceptable) and Price (reasonableness). Quotations must remain valid for ninety days from the due date. Payment terms are Net 30. Offerors must submit electronically to deionne.jones@nist.gov with separate price and technical quotations demonstrating specification compliance. For foreign-manufactured products, offerors must identify tariffs as separate line items. Standard small business certifications, Free Trade Agreements Certificate, and debarment certifications are required.
