About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration (VA) is conducting a Request for Information (RFI) for replacing two bulletproof medical window boxes at the Puget Sound VA Medical Center's American Lake Campus. The solicitation seeks market research to identify potential contractors capable of providing and installing two 16" x 16" package receivers with level 3 ballistic rating, specifically left-side hinged with strict installation requirements in Building 81 pharmacy. Potential contractors must submit detailed information including company details, small business program eligibility, glass manufacturing capabilities, existing government contracts, and labor warranties by April 11, 2025, at 3:00 PM Pacific Time. Respondents are required to provide a two-page capability statement demonstrating their ability to meet the contract requirements. The VA will evaluate responses based on the vendor's capacity to remove and dispose of damaged window boxes, install replacements, coordinate with pharmacy operations, and perform necessary function tests.
The pre-solicitation notice does not specify a specific set-aside for small businesses, though vendors are asked to indicate their eligibility for various small business programs. The contract period of performance is 90 business days following contract award, with installation taking place in a pharmacy setting that requires minimal patient disruption. The specific technical requirements include CRL Bullet Protection Level 3, precise 16" x 16" x 16" dimensional specifications, left-hand hinging, and a design allowing only one door to be opened simultaneously. The procurement is classified under NAICS code 238350 (Finish Carpentry Contractors) and PSC code N053 (Installation of Equipment-Hardware and Abrasives). While no specific budget range is mentioned, the scope involves replacing two medical window boxes with specialized ballistic protection, suggesting a potentially specialized and technical procurement process.
