About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base is seeking to procure 7 MXU-648 Aircraft Cargo (Travel) Pods for F-16 aircraft deployment. These aluminum canisters are specifically designed for international military programs, with delivery requirements targeting Bulgaria and Taiwan production programs. The solicitation requires the pods to be newly manufactured, qualified by the 423 Supply Chain Management Squadron and SEEK EAGLE, and meet precise technical specifications including weight, dimension, and cargo capacity standards. The contract will be awarded on a firm-fixed-price basis using a lowest price, technically acceptable evaluation method, with proposals due by 3:30 PM EST on February 7, 2025. Any questions or concerns about the solicitation should be directed to Chad Hines via email, with Col. Paul W. Tinker serving as the designated Ombudsman for contractor communications.

The solicitation is not set aside for any specific small business category and will be open to all qualified manufacturers in the Other Aircraft Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing sector. The pods must be painted Light Gray and comply with specific technical requirements, including two acceptable configuration options weighing either 136 lbs or 106 lbs, with a maximum cargo capacity of 300 lbs. Delivery is specified as phased, with 5 units to be shipped to the Bulgaria Production Program and 2 units to the Taiwan Production Program, both located in Greenville, SC through Lockheed Martin Logistic Services. The full delivery of all 7 pods is required by June 30, 2025, with transportation charges to be included in the quotation. The government reserves the right to rescind the request and emphasizes that submission of a proposal does not guarantee a future contract.
