About this opportunity
The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) at Lakehurst, NJ, is seeking to procure the Sling V-Tail Assembly for the MQ-4C Triton Unmanned Air Systems (UAS) Program, supporting the United States Navy and Royal Australian Air Force. This is a firm fixed-price contract for a Critical Application Item (CAI) with Part Number 3673310M01101-301, where potential failure could result in significant safety risks or mission impairment. The procurement will be a limited competition between two approved manufacturers: Northrop Grumman and Avioss LLC. Potential alternate offerors must submit a comprehensive Source Approval Request (SAR) package within fifteen days of publication, including configuration drawings, manufacturing process sheets, delivery documentation, and a detailed comparative analysis. The SAR package will be evaluated by the Technical Authority, with mandatory registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) required for consideration.
The pre-solicitation notice indicates no specific set-aside designation for this contract. While no explicit award value is provided, the potential monetary loss associated with item failure is estimated between $100,000 and $1,000,000. The contract is specifically for a single Sling V-Tail Assembly, characterized as a critical component for the MQ-4C Triton UAS program. Responses must be submitted via email to Alexander Buchan by April 29, 2025, at 5:00 PM EDT. If time constraints prevent a complete evaluation of SAR packages, alternate offers may be considered in future procurements. The procurement falls under NAICS Category 332710 (Machine Shops) and PSC Category 1730 (Aircraft Ground Servicing Equipment), indicating the specialized nature of the required manufacturing capabilities.
