About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure 60 units of a specific military hardware item (NSN 7H-5342-014185873) with very precise technical specifications. The solicitation indicates a highly specialized procurement where the part must be acquired from or repaired by a specifically designated source, as defined by DoD-STD-100 standards. Due to limited technical data and government data rights, the agency intends to negotiate with only one source under FAR 6.302-1 authority. Potential vendors have 45 days from the April 16, 2025 publication date to express interest or submit capability statements, though this is not a formal competitive proposal request. The government retains sole discretion in determining whether to pursue a competitive procurement based on received responses.
This pre-solicitation notice is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, signaling an opportunity specifically for small business concerns. The procurement is subject to potential Free Trade Agreements and Buy American Act provisions, as indicated by potential DFARS clauses 252.225-7036 and 252.225-7021. The Product Service Code (PSC) is 5342, categorized under Hardware, Weapon System, which suggests a technical or military equipment procurement. Interested parties have 15 days to identify potential commercial item solutions, and the government will normally consider received information solely for determining procurement approach. While no specific award value is mentioned, the precise technical requirements and limited source availability suggest a specialized and potentially high-value contract opportunity.
