About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command is seeking to procure a Modular Vehicle Barrier System (MVB3X) for Fairchild Air Force Base through a pre-solicitation notice. The system must meet specific technical requirements, including certification by the US Department of Homeland Security Safety Act, compliance with ASTM-F2656-15 and ASTM/PAS 68 standards, and the ability to cover multiple traffic lanes. Key system specifications include being modular, adaptable to any road width, deployable by one person without tools, safety yellow in color, and capable of opening and closing a lane in less than 10 seconds. Respondents must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and prepared to participate in the subsequent solicitation.
The opportunity is designated as a total small business set-aside under NAICS Code 332999 with a size standard of 750 employees. While no specific pricing information is being requested at this stage, the pre-solicitation notice serves as an informational and planning tool for potential vendors. The barrier system must be completely modular, requiring no cables or ball/hitch connections, and each unit must be foldable for easy carrying and storage. No incumbent contractor is mentioned, and no specific award value or budget range is disclosed. The solicitation emphasizes the system's critical requirements of zero maintenance, quick perimeter access, and emergency lane management capabilities, targeting vendors who can provide a highly specialized vehicular barrier solution for military installation security.
