About this opportunity
NASA Kennedy Space Center intends to award a sole-source modification to Space Exploration Technologies Corporation (SpaceX) under the existing Commercial Crew Transportation Capability (CCtCap) Contract NNK14MA74C to provide up to six additional Post Certification Missions and related services transporting NASA crew to and from the International Space Station.
The justification rests on 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(1), with the determination that SpaceX is the only responsible source currently capable of meeting near-term ISS crew rotation needs. SpaceX has successfully completed eleven crew rotation missions with a twelfth in progress and has demonstrated re-flight capability. Boeing's Starliner system remains uncertified as of May 2026 with significant technical and schedule delays, and no other domestic commercial provider has progressed sufficiently to achieve NASA certification by 2030. These additional missions are required to ensure uninterrupted U.S. crew access to the ISS through 2030, maintaining the requirement of one crew rotation mission every six months. The modification would increase SpaceX's maximum contract quantity from 14 to 20 missions. The estimated performance period runs from September 2026 through December 2030. Pricing is based on competitively awarded or negotiated Firm Fixed Price contracts previously determined to be fair and reasonable. NASA published a Notice of Intent on SAM.gov on May 18, 2026; no competing companies expressed interest.
