About this opportunity
The Defense Health Agency is seeking a miniaturized large-volume infusion system designed for military medical applications, particularly for use in austere locations and en route care settings. The system must be capable of delivering multiple fluids, medications, nutrition, and blood products through 3-4 channels, with a preference for a single screen/control interface. Key requirements include FDA clearance, a compact form factor (no larger than 0.1 cubic feet), weight under 7 lbs, 6-hour battery operation, and position-independent pumping capabilities. The Request for Information (RFI) No. HT9425-25-RFI-MMCIP was issued on February 28, 2025, with responses due by 4:00 pm Eastern on March 28, 2025. Vendors must submit completed attachments including Minimum Essential Characteristics and Company & Product Information, along with company specification sheets, using specific formatting guidelines.
While no specific set-aside was designated for this opportunity, the RFI indicates that potential vendors should specify their small business status and socio-economic classifications. The system must not only meet military medical requirements but also demonstrate commercial viability in the civilian sector to ensure long-term product availability. Vendors are required to provide detailed information about their product, including repair parts, item specifications, pricing, and shipping dimensions. The system should be capable of innovative solutions that potentially include modular or integrated designs, with a focus on low size and weight. Although no specific award value was mentioned in the documents, the comprehensive technical requirements suggest a sophisticated medical device procurement with potentially significant investment in research, development, and production.
Notice text
The capability desired is a miniaturized large-volume infusion system capable of delivering multiple fluids, medications, nutrition, and blood products through 3-4 channels. The form factor of the system could be either integrated or a modular system. Innovative solutions are welcome. Ideally, the system will include the ability to control all channels using a single screen/control interface. However, alternative solutions with low size and weight may fit the need. The system is intended to be used by the military in austere locations, including en route care (ERC). However, the end product will also need to be a commercially viable system with sufficient demand in the civilian sector to sustain its availability. See RFI attachments for full deatails.
