About this opportunity

The Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) has published a Special Notice regarding the development of draft specifications and standards for MIL-DTL-32127B, Catapult, Aircraft Ejection Seat, CKU-5C/A Assembly. This special notice, designated N0002424SN, was posted on January 20, 2026, and serves to inform the defense contracting community of NAVSEA's intention to establish comprehensive specifications for aircraft ejection seat catapult assemblies. The document falls under NAICS code 928110 (National Security) and PSC code 1377 (Cartridge and Propellant Actuated Devices and Components). This is explicitly identified as a notice of intent to draft standards rather than a solicitation for bids or proposals. The announcement originates from NAVSEA's office located at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, D.C.

NAVSEA's objective is to develop specifications and standards that accommodate multiple design solutions and manufacturing processes while simultaneously broadening the vendor base for this critical component. Interested contractors may request copies of the draft document by emailing CommandStandards@navy.mil with the document number in the subject line; however, the document is restricted to U.S. Government agencies and their contractors, with foreign entities required to provide valid export license agreements and documented need-to-know justification. The review period for the draft specification closes on February 19, 2026, providing stakeholders approximately one month to submit feedback. Upon completion, the final specification will be available through ASSIST Online at https://quicksearch.dla.mil/. This notice represents an opportunity for qualified vendors to influence the development of future procurement standards for aircraft ejection seat catapult assemblies.
