About this opportunity
The U.S. Geological Survey Office of Acquisitions and Grants intends to solicit microplastics analysis and sampling services under a Total Small Business Set-Aside, with a sources-sought response due September 11, 2026.
Work involves quantitative characterization of microplastic particles from environmental samples collected at agricultural fields, wastewater treatment plants, and surface waters across Oklahoma and Texas, and Galveston Bay. Core analytical services must be performed directly by the responding small business; subcontracted work must be clearly identified and justified. Analysis scope includes measurement and quantification down to 2 micrometers, morphological and chemical characterization using optical, fluorescent, and Raman microscopy, chemical oxidation and sequential density separation procedures, and processing of 20–45 samples annually from 2026 through 2029. Results must be delivered within 120 days of sample receipt in Excel and Presentation format, including microplastic counts, morphological characterization, polymer composition determination, and QA/QC results.
Respondents must submit capability statements not exceeding five pages, addressing company information, laboratory location, relevant microplastics analysis experience, instrumentation and qualified personnel, examples of recent similar work with customer references, and identification of any proposed subcontracted work. NAICS 541380 (Testing Laboratories and Services) and PSC B529 (Special Studies/Analysis - Scientific Data) apply. Responses to the sources-sought notice are not binding on the government and will not be reimbursed. Submit to Joel Berberena, Contracting Officer, at joel_berberena@ios.doi.gov.
