About this opportunity
Anniston Army Depot, under the Army Materiel Command Contracting Command Detroit Arsenal, is issuing a Request for Information on microgrid systems maintenance and emergency repair services with a response deadline of September 8, 2026. This is a pre-acquisition industry engagement; the RFI does not constitute a commitment to contract, and nonresponse does not preclude participation in any subsequent solicitation.
The requirement covers 24/7 maintenance, repair, and emergency service for the entire microgrid system at Anniston Army Depot, Alabama. The microgrid comprises three 2.5 MW Caterpillar natural gas generators, one Gillette 150 KW natural gas black start generator, a Mosebach 2.5 MW load bank, switchgear, relays, transformers, controllers, software, communications systems, and automatic transfer switches. The contractor must supply all labor, parts, materials, software updates, system testing, spare parts inventory, and transportation at no cost to the Government and respond to reported problems within 24 hours (or two hours for emergencies).
Personnel must include Caterpillar-certified technicians for switchgear maintenance, with minimum five years of industry experience for technicians and ten years for lead technicians. Security clearances are required for contractor personnel. The contractor must comply with Army cybersecurity requirements and IEEE/ASME standards, participate in black start exercises, and provide onsite technical support during emergency operations. Major engine overhauls are excluded.
The Army requests capability statements with past performance examples, recommended contracting strategy, and input on hardware pricing accuracy, software and integration/installation pricing, and additional information needed to formulate a complete proposal. Period of performance is to be determined.
