About this opportunity
The Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane, under the Department of the Navy Naval Sea Systems Command, is seeking quotations for Internal Frequency Standard Battery Packs through a sole-source procurement. The requirement encompasses 100 units for US use and 30 units for United Kingdom use, with procurement conducted under FAR 13.106-1 authority with Microchip Technology and qualifying distributors. This is a simplified acquisition for batteries already integrated into the customer's existing classified navigation system, and only Microchip Technology is approved as the sole source due to extensive testing and certification requirements that preclude alternatives. Quoters must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and must provide pricing for the specified quantities, with the option to offer prompt payment discounts for payment within 10, 20, or 30 calendar days. The original solicitation closing date of February 24, 2026, has been extended to March 24, 2026, at 4:00 PM Eastern Time via Amendment 0001 to allow qualified vendors additional time to submit responsive quotes.
This procurement has no small business set-aside designation and is being conducted as a sole-source acquisition based on the brand name justification, as these battery packs have over 10 years of service history and are the only approved components for this application. Microchip Technology, located in Chandler, Arizona (CAGE code 60991), is the incumbent manufacturer of part number 1420-0514, and the Government will consider capability statements from all responsible sources, though the final determination to proceed with sole-source procurement remains at the Government's discretion. The total contract dollar value has been redacted from available documents. Delivery is required to NSWC Crane located at 300 Highway 361, Crane, Indiana 47522-5001, with delivery specified as FOB destination. Quotations should be submitted to Alicia Dobbyn at NSWC Crane by the extended deadline, and all interested vendors must monitor sam.gov for any further amendments or changes to the requirement.
