About this opportunity
The National Institutes of Health, on behalf of the National Eye Institute, published a Special Notice to conduct a non-targeted metabolomics evaluation of samples from the Age-Related Eye Disease Study. The intent is to solicit a fixed-price contract with Metabolon, Inc.
The Special Notice provides details for Metabolon, Inc. to analyze approximately 1,897 serum samples from AREDS2 participants aged 55 and older with varying severity of age-related macular degeneration at baseline and followed longitudinally. Key deadlines include a due date of March 25, 2024 to submit capabilities statements or proposals. Eligible contractors will perform tasks such as building relative concentration profiles of metabolites, providing final data to the National Eye Institute, and conducting study start-up and closeout activities over a 12-month period of performance once awarded. This Special Notice continues work from a previous pilot study and does not constitute a request for full proposals, but rather an advance notice of the agency's intent to enter a sole source contract for these metabolomics evaluation services.
