About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VISN 19), awarded MED-EL Corporation an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract for cochlear implants, auditory osseointegrated implants, and related parts and accessories on October 30, 2026. The Enterprise Procurement Office executed the award on behalf of the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service and Denver Logistics Service. The award was made without competition, and the Set Aside line reads "No Set-Aside Used." The source's Government File summary describes a single-award, firm-fixed-price contract with a 10-year performance period (base year plus nine option years), while the Government Description refers to multiple sole-source contracts. The award value is not disclosed in the source.
Performance covers VA and Department of Defense-approved medical facilities nationwide, including U.S. territories. Customized prescription implants and accessories are stocked at DLS warehouses and ordered by VA audiologists through the national Remote Order Entry System. The sole-source justification, citing 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), rests on Med-El's proprietary designs and FDA approvals for Class III cochlear implant and Class II auditory osseointegrated implant systems. The justification will be publicized through the Government Point of Entry within 14 days of award.
