This solicitation is for Mechanical Mastication Services:
The intention of the Government is to award to multiple contractors. Work requires reduction of fuel loading in 3 designated areas. Each designated area is around 1,000 acres each, for an estimated total of 3,100acres.
The work would be completed by masticating existing live vegetative materials preferably with a "mounted mastication type head" on a track mounted piece of equipment, it must be track mounted. Work shall be performed on slopes up to 30 percent.
A. The objective is to eliminate vegetative competition of brush and small diameter saplings and reduce the slash layer to a depth of 2 to 10 inches through Mastication. Logs greater than 10 inches diameter will be left in place.
B. The contractor shall furnish all equipment, fuel, maintenance, labor, supervision, transportation, materials, tools, supplies, and incidentals necessary to perform the job.

This is a Special Notice to:
1. Provide interested contractors the opportunity to access the project work site this Fall of 2018. Contractors will be able to view and ask questions about a Mechanical Mastication Services project that will be advertised in Spring 2019.
2. Due to Winter weather conditions the site would not be accessible when the solicitation is advertised in the Spring.
3. See attached Statement of Work for pertient project information
4. The Pre-solicitation site visit will occur on November 8th, 2018 at 9:00am at the Barlow Ranger District office. (780 NE Court Street, Dufur, Oregon 97021)
