About this opportunity

The U.S. Air Force's 773rd Civil Engineer Squadron is procuring high-speed broom bristles and cores through the Department of the Air Force Pacific Air Forces for snow and ice removal equipment at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. The procurement specifically requires Svenska Industriborstar AB (SIB) brand components, including 32 units of MB2 Broom Bristles with 22'/28 rows and 7 units of MB2 22-foot cores with 28 rows, designed for five new MB2 multipurpose plow/broom sets used on flight lines and runways. The technical specifications are highly detailed, requiring 33-inch cassette sections with 20 tufts of .45mm zinc-coated steel wire per section and cores measuring 263.4 inches long with 28 cassette tracks. The government will evaluate proposals based on compliance with specifications, technical capability (pass/fail), and lowest price among technically acceptable offers. Questions must be submitted by 3:00 PM AKDT on September 24, 2025, with quotes due by 1:00 PM AKDT on September 26, 2025.

This opportunity is designated as a 100% Small Business Set-Aside under NAICS code 333120 (Construction Machinery Manufacturing) with a size standard of 1,250 employees. The Air Force has identified this as a sole source procurement justified by the specific requirements for SIB brand components, which are purposely built for the specialized snow removal equipment and offer proven benefits including reduced maintenance hours and minimized foreign object debris risks. The contract will be awarded as a firm-fixed-price single award with delivery to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska. The broom cores come with a 10-year warranty while the bristles carry a one-year guarantee and are expected to last 100-120 hours of use. Two small businesses have been identified as potential sources for this procurement, with the contracting officer anticipating competitive quotations will result in fair and reasonable pricing.
