About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Pacific Air Forces' 35th Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS) Armory is seeking an RFID-based armory management system to enhance asset tracking visibility and management capabilities for firearms stored in their vault. The procurement requires a comprehensive solution including tracking software, scanner installation, training, LAN connections, and the capability to provide 100% asset visibility through unique RFID tags applied to each individual weapon that will monitor entry and exit from the vault. The system specifications include a digital arms room software package with scanner, laptop, dock, CAC reader, client license, wireless RFID/IUID inventory scanner with mobile software, entry/exit alert readers, 500 ceramic/plastic black passive RFID tags, necessary cables and connectors, and asset shipping services. While the government has identified the SmarTrack system as potentially meeting their requirements, they will consider alternative solutions that satisfy the same specifications. This pre-solicitation notice was posted on July 31, 2025, with responses due by August 8, 2025.

The contract opportunity does not utilize any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified contractors capable of meeting the technical requirements. The procurement includes three labor days for installation, NET training, database migration, and equipment tagging, along with two entry/exit alert readers equipped with 4-port LAN connections. The system will be deployed at Building 1334 and must accommodate 500 RFID tags initially, suggesting the armory manages a substantial inventory of firearms requiring tracking. The government has specifically mentioned the SmarTrack system as a potential solution, indicating familiarity with existing market offerings while remaining open to competitive alternatives. The compressed timeline of eight days between posting and response deadline suggests this may be moving toward a rapid procurement process, though no specific contract value or budget range has been disclosed in the pre-solicitation documentation.
