About this opportunity
The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) seeks to procure approximately 4,100 AN/SSQ-101B production sonobuoys through a Firm Fixed Price contract intended for Low-Rate Initial Production in Fiscal Year 2027. These sonobuoys are critical undersea detection systems essential for U.S. Navy Anti-Submarine Warfare operations, enabling the detection, classification, and localization of adversary submarines during both peacetime and combat scenarios. Offerors must possess or acquire fully qualified production-ready designs meeting general performance requirements for the AN/SSQ-101B, with a requirement to achieve qualified production-ready designs within six months of contract award. A Government-qualified design is defined as either a design currently being delivered to the Government or one that has received formal qualification from the Procurement Contracting Officer. The Pre-Solicitation Notice was posted on April 28, 2026, with a comment deadline of May 13, 2026, and the anticipated contract award is planned for FY 2027.
The contract will be awarded on an other than full and open competition basis under the authority of 10 U.S.C. 3204(a)(3), with Sparton DeLeon Springs LLC identified as the apparent intended recipient. No small business set-aside or local area set-aside will be utilized for this procurement, as determined following a Sources Sought Notice issued on March 24, 2026, and closed on April 8, 2026. The contract encompasses all effort, materials, and supplies required to manufacture, assemble, and deliver the sonobuoys, though the specific total dollar value is not disclosed in this Pre-Solicitation Notice. The procurement represents an industrial mobilization effort focused on establishing production capacity for critical naval anti-submarine warfare sensors, with the work to be performed by the contractor based in De Leon Springs, Florida.
