Update #6 ·

The proposed effort consists of three tasks: creating a design methodology; generating a visualization tool based on an existing set of data; and extending the visualization tool to allow for new data.

The creation of a design methodology will be the basis for entire program. Under this task, the current design optimization process will be transposed into a succinct methodology that can be visualized and analyzed. The methodology will take into account that the user may have existing data or may be looking to start anew with yet to be completed computational data.

The methodology will then be codified and tested on existing data sets. Where needed, additional computational simulations will be performed to enhance the design space. The tool will then be extended to allow for entirely new data sets. In this case, the tool will indicate what areas of the domain require more simulations and when the computational method needs to be enhanced to allow for more accurate solutions.

Update #4 ·

Makai Ocean Engineering proposes to research, evaluate and model the use of these technologies and any technology that allows a higher inlet temperature or larger dT (temperature Difference between chilled water supply and return temperatures) in conjunction with Seawater Air Conditioning (SWAC). The goal will be to quantify their effects and provide a tool for evaluating such energy saving air conditioning technology for United States (US) military facilities worldwide.
