About this opportunity
The Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command is seeking to procure a Local Control Unit, identified by National Stock Number 7H-6110-016243320, with a Technical Data Package (TDP) Version 002. The procurement is for a single unit to be delivered FOB Origin. Due to data ownership constraints, the government does not currently possess the rights to purchase or contract repair of this part from alternative sources, and has determined it would be uneconomically feasible to acquire the data rights or reverse engineer the component. The agency intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, which allows for limited competition. Interested parties may submit proposals, quotations, or capability statements within 45 days of the synopsis publication (or 30 days if awarded under an existing Basic Ordering Agreement). The government retains sole discretion in determining whether to proceed with a competitive procurement based on responses received.
This pre-solicitation notice does not specify a specific set-aside designation, indicating the opportunity is open to all responsible sources. No incumbent contractors are explicitly named in the documentation. The procurement is for a single unit of electrical control equipment categorized under PSC Code 6110, with a planned delivery of one piece. The solicitation was posted on May 6, 2025, with responses due by May 22, 2025. While specific award value is not disclosed, the procurement appears focused on a specialized, potentially complex electrical control component that requires specific technical expertise and potentially unique manufacturing capabilities. The government's approach suggests a targeted, potentially sole-source procurement strategy designed to efficiently acquire a specific, hard-to-replace technical component.
