About this opportunity
The Department of State's US Embassy in Lima has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole source service order for maintenance and repair of concrete curbs at a US government-owned residence. The notice is published in compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 5.101, which requires dissemination of information for proposed contract actions. Specifically, the US Embassy plans to award the contract to Acota Corp using Simplified Acquisition Procedures and Other Than Full and Open Competition. The procurement will follow the statutory authority prescribed under FAR Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1)(i), which allows contracting officers to solicit from a single source under certain circumstances. The contract falls under the NAICS category 238110 for Poured Concrete Foundation and Structure Contractors and the PSC category Z1FA for Maintenance of Family Housing Facilities.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors about the US Embassy's intention to conduct a sole source procurement for concrete curb maintenance. The notice emphasizes that this is not a competitive solicitation, but rather a direct award to Acota Corp based on the determination that only one source is reasonably available. Contractors should note that the embassy will use Simplified Acquisition Procedures, which means the procurement process will be streamlined and less complex than traditional federal contracting methods. The sole source authority is justified under provisions that allow single-source selection when circumstances such as urgency or exclusive licensing agreements exist. While no open competition is planned, the notice serves to provide transparency about the intended contract action. Potential contractors should understand that this specific opportunity is not open for bidding, as Acota Corp has been identified as the sole source provider for this service.
