About this opportunity
The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) at China Lake, under the Department of the Navy, is seeking sources for a lithography-based ceramic manufacturing (LCM) multi-material 3D printer to support advanced ceramic-based composite materials research, development, testing, and production. The required printer must be a standalone, enclosed unit featuring two interior rotating vats, material dispersion and cleaning routes, an integrated build platform, integrated light source, print file preparation software, and GUI controls. Key technical requirements include lateral resolution of at least 35 microns, layer thicknesses between 10-100 microns, and build speeds up to 100 layers per hour, with capability to process materials such as alumina, zirconia, and silicon nitride. Evaluation criteria focus on the firm's experience, assets, background, and demonstrated ability to perform the work while maintaining quality, accuracy, reliability, and schedule adherence. Interested vendors must submit a written capability statement by December 17, 2025, referencing solicitation number N6893626R0009.
This is a pre-solicitation notice with no set-aside designation, and no incumbent contractor is identified in the available documentation. The procurement includes the printer unit itself, a benchtop cleaning station, and optional thermal post-processing equipment, with no specific award value disclosed in the pre-solicitation materials. The contractor must deliver the system complete and ready to ship within 7 months of order receipt and provide on-site installation, personnel training, comprehensive manuals, and a one-year warranty. The anticipated application includes producing ceramic composite test articles and small-scale proof of concept parts, with particular emphasis on developing efficient production methods for hypersonic radomes and supporting research-grade material development initiatives.
