About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Robins Air Force Base is conducting market research to identify potential manufacturers for LAU-12X launcher power supplies, a critical component used in launching AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles on F-15, F-16, and F-18 aircraft. The government is seeking contractors with production expertise and capabilities to manufacture Part Number 9018869-1 (NSN 6130-01-440-7591), noting that they do not currently possess complete technical drawings for the power supplies. The solicitation will be evaluated based on manufacturers' capabilities in production processes, quality assurance, technical data generation, testing capabilities, and prior experience with similar military electronic components. Interested contractors must submit comprehensive responses electronically via AMRDEC SAFE to Rex S. Shearin and Tara Stephens by July 3, 2025. The procurement will be conducted under NAICS code 336419 for Other Guided Missile and Space Vehicle Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing.

The contract is not set aside for any specific business category, with both large and small businesses encouraged to participate, including potential joint ventures and teaming arrangements. The anticipated contract is a Fixed-Price Requirements contract with a 60-month performance period, structured with a basic period plus four additional ordering periods. The government estimates requiring approximately 95 power supply units annually, suggesting a potential total production volume of 475 units over the full contract duration. While specific award values are not disclosed, the complexity of the electronic components and their critical military application indicate a potentially significant contract value. The power supplies are intended for use in both U.S. Department of Defense and Foreign Military Sales aircraft, which may provide additional opportunities for future contract extensions or related procurements.
