About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 15 has issued a Special Notice for an Industry Day Event related to the Veteran Affairs Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP). The notice pertains to market research for a Pharmacy Automated Prescription Fulfillment System (APFS) that serves seven CMOP facilities located across the United States in Kansas, Massachusetts, Arizona, Texas, Tennessee, Illinois, and South Carolina. These facilities collectively process and mail approximately 530,000 prescriptions daily to veteran patients using advanced automation equipment integrated into various subsystems. The VA is seeking to understand current industry capabilities for pharmacy automation equipment that can support this high-volume prescription fulfillment operation. The initiative is being conducted under Federal Acquisition Regulation 15.201(e) as market research, with potential for future production growth based on agreements with other federal agencies.
The Industry Day Event is scheduled for the week of September 22-26, 2025, at the Shawnee CMOP facility in Kansas, with vendors allocated up to two hours each to present their capabilities. Interested contractors must submit their company information, including point of contact details, SAM Unique ID, capability statement, and past performance documentation by September 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM CDT, with an earlier deadline of September 7, 2025, for submitting questions. The VA seeks vendors with automation equipment capable of supporting stringent requirements including 100% product selection accuracy, comprehensive pharmacist verification, patient safety protocols, and 99% operational uptime. Eligible contractors should have experience with pharmaceutical automation systems and be able to demonstrate their solutions' ability to handle various dispensing needs including tablet/capsule automation, unit-of-use automation, and specialized dispensing for medical supplies and refrigerated items. The market research focuses on understanding current industry trends, production capacity, growth potential, and how vendor solutions can meet the specific operational needs of the CMOP facilities, though participation does not guarantee the release of a formal request for proposals.
