About this opportunity

This Special Notice from the Naval Sea Systems Command announces their intent to award a sole source contract to General Dynamics Mission Systems for the Knifefish LRIP Retrofit program. The contract aims to retrofit five Surface Mine Countermeasure Unmanned Undersea Vehicle systems to the Block 1 configuration and provide ongoing engineering support services.

The contract, valued at $52.21 million over 21 months, will support Block 1 development and testing efforts, retrofitting of five Low Rate Initial Production systems, littoral combat ship integration work, ongoing engineering services and maintenance of test assets. As the incumbent contractor with expertise on the current effort, General Dynamics is the only source considered capable of providing the necessary support within the required timeframe without potential disruption or delays to the critical mine countermeasures mission for the Fleet. The Special Notice cites 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1 as the statutory authority for the sole source award to General Dynamics as the only responsible source available.
