About this opportunity
The Air Force Sustainment Center is procuring a Kessler Spindle Motor system for the 76 CMXG to replace critical components in a Hermle CNC Mill used in their NC Machine shop. The procurement includes one Motor Spindle 9000 1/min HSK A100-M, one Encoder line, one adapter, one L-plug-in screw joint, two filter elements, and twenty plastic tubes. The requirement is structured as a firm fixed price contract with a 10-month period of performance following award. Interested contractors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) and can submit proposals electronically through Beta.sam.gov, with all solicitation activities conducted electronically and no telephone requests accepted. The proposal submission deadline is October 7, 2025, just four days after the posting date.
This opportunity is designated as a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 333517 (Machine Tool Manufacturing) with a size standard of 500 employees. Kessler USA Inc. is identified as the sole authorized Original Equipment Manufacturer for these spindle motors, making this effectively a sole source procurement despite the small business set-aside designation. The government's market research through Dynamic Small Business Search and SAM databases identified multiple small businesses in various socioeconomic categories, but determined that only Kessler can provide the specific spindle motor meeting the precise operational requirements. The procurement supports production requirements across multiple Air Force programs, with the spindle serving as a critical replacement component for the 5-axis milling machine operations.
