About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Combat Command, specifically the 4th Contracting Squadron at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina, has issued a Special Notice for a sole source acquisition of KC-46 Brake Rebuilding Tools. The notice indicates the intent to award a contract directly to Honeywell International for five specific brake-related tools and components. These items include a Lifting Tool, Brake Spacer, Assembly Fixture, Socket for Piston Bushing, and O-Ring Installation Kit, each with a unique item number. The procurement will be processed under Simplified Acquisition Procedures, specifically utilizing FAR 6.302-1(b)(4), which allows for non-competitive procurement when only one responsible source can satisfy agency requirements. The acquisition is categorized under NAICS code 336413 for Other Aircraft Parts and Auxiliary Equipment Manufacturing.
The primary objective of this Special Notice is to acquire specialized brake maintenance tools essential for the KC-46 aircraft's hydraulics shop. The notice provides a closing date of March 17, 2025, at 4:30 PM EST for potential responses, though it explicitly states this is not a request for competitive proposals. Contractors should note that the government retains sole discretion in determining competitive requirements. Eligibility is effectively limited to Honeywell International, as the government has determined they are the only source capable of providing these specific tools. The tools will be used to perform brake tear down and build-up procedures according to technical order 32-43-12, with delivery expected 120 days after contract award. Interested parties seeking more information are directed to contact Mr. DeAndre Fuller at deandre.fuller@us.af.mil. The anticipated award date remains undetermined, and the procurement will be coordinated through Seymour Johnson Air Force Base gates.
