About this opportunity
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has awarded contract 75D30126P21605 to the California Department of Public Health for the Pregnancy Mortality Surveillance System – California on a sole-source basis, with a base period value of $10,074.43 and total potential contract value of $49,012.15.
The justification cites FAR 6.103-1, only one responsible source, establishing that the California Department of Public Health is the sole legal custodian and authoritative source of California vital records required to support CDC's surveillance system. The requirement calls for identification and provision of fully identifiable and linkable vital records data, including death certificates for women who died during pregnancy or within one year of the end of pregnancy, along with corresponding birth or fetal death certificates. Market research confirmed that these records are maintained exclusively by the State of California and are not available from other sources in the required identifiable format.
The contract includes a 12-month base period running from August 30, 2026 through August 29, 2027, and four 12-month option periods. This award succeeds the prior contract (Order Number 75D30121P12598), which ran from September 13, 2021 through September 19, 2026. Price reasonableness will be determined through comparison to historical pricing from prior contracts and similar work.
