About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Air Education and Training Command is seeking to procure a vertical band saw for the JBSA Randolph Trainer Development Squadron (TDS), which supports DoD training device and simulator manufacturing operations. The band saw must meet specific technical specifications, including a 230-volt power supply, speed range of 50-450 FPM, feed range of 0-140 LBS, and a 0-3 degree canted column. Critical features include a 19.8-gallon coolant capacity, column blade tilt up to 60 degrees, an 18" quick-action vice, and integrated flushing hose with power chip brush. The Sources Sought document indicates this is a market research initiative to gather information from potential vendors about their capabilities and small business status. Interested businesses are required to submit responses by 2:00 P.M. Central Time on May 20, 2025, with correspondence directed to Andrew Hernandez and Emily Deck Sanders.
This procurement opportunity is designated as a Total Small Business set-aside, targeting small business manufacturers in the Sawmill, Woodworking, and Paper Machinery Manufacturing sector (NAICS 333243). The market research phase will help the government assess technical feasibility and potential vendor capabilities without committing to a specific award. While no specific contract value is mentioned, the procurement is intended to support the TDS's expansion of operational capabilities in designing, developing, manufacturing, and maintaining training devices and simulators. Potential vendors are asked to provide information about their proposed brand, GSA schedule availability, and typical delivery timeframes. The government will use the collected information for technical and acquisition planning, with no guarantee of notification to respondents about the eventual outcome of the research.
