About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Veterans Integrated Service Network 4 issued a Special Notice on April 29, 2026, announcing its intent to award a sole source Firm Fixed Price contract to EVIDENT SCIENTIFIC MIS, INC. for preventative maintenance services on an Olympus Fluoview 4000 Confocal Laser Scanning System located at VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System. This notice is published in accordance with FAR 5.101 to inform the public of the government's procurement intent and to allow other responsible sources an opportunity to demonstrate their capability to perform the required work. The contract falls under NAICS category 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) and PSC J066 (Maintenance/Repair/Rebuild of Equipment—Instruments and Laboratory Equipment). While the government intends to sole source this requirement, the notice invites capable contractors to submit capability information to potentially compete for the contract.

Interested contractors must submit detailed capability information demonstrating their ability to perform the required services by May 14, 2026, at 12:00 PM EST via email to Contract Specialist Mae McGarry at mae.mcgarry@va.gov. The contract calls for one preventative maintenance on-site service visit per year, with services including laser system performance checks, optical lens cleaning, mechanical lubrication, optical and mechanical alignment, and minor software updates, along with corrective maintenance and technical support available throughout the contract period. The period of performance runs from June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2030, consisting of one base year plus four one-year option periods. Services must be provided during normal business hours (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST) at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System facility, and contractors must comply with on-site security and identification requirements. The government will use submitted capability information solely to determine whether to conduct competitive procurement, and no costs incurred in preparing responses will be reimbursed.
