About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs, Veterans Integrated Service Network 16 (VISN 16), located in New Orleans, Louisiana, has published a Notice of Intent to Sole Source a firm-fixed-price contract for Pyxis repair and maintenance services. The contracting officer, Marcus Sidney, issued this special notice on March 25, 2026, indicating the agency's intention to award the contract to CareFusion Solutions LLC, the incumbent vendor located in San Diego, California. Under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) and FAR 6.302-1, the VA has determined that CareFusion Solutions LLC is the only responsible source capable of meeting the agency's unique requirements for these specialized medical equipment services. The contract will be classified under NAICS code 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) and PSC category J065 (Medical Equipment Maintenance and Repair). This notice represents the agency's formal announcement of its intent to proceed with sole-source procurement rather than open competition.

The objective of this notice is to provide interested parties an opportunity to submit evidence of their capability to provide comprehensive Pyxis repair and maintenance services before the VA proceeds with sole-source negotiations with CareFusion Solutions LLC. Prospective contractors must submit a capabilities statement by April 9, 2026, at 8:00 AM Central Time to marcus.sidney@va.gov, referencing solicitation number 36C25626Q0568 and Notice of Intent number 36C256-26-AP-2509 in their subject line. The capabilities statement must provide clear and unambiguous evidence demonstrating the ability to deliver all required labor, materials, hardware, maintenance, and support services in accordance with original equipment manufacturer specifications to ensure maximum equipment uptime. SAM.gov registration alone does not constitute sufficient evidence of capability, and only written submissions will be accepted. If the VA receives no viable responses demonstrating competitive capability by the deadline, it will proceed to negotiate directly with CareFusion Solutions LLC for a one base year plus four option year contract; however, the government reserves the right to compete the requirement if credible responses are received.
