About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), specifically the Veterans Health Administration's Network Contracting Office 17 (NCO-17), has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to conduct a sole source procurement with Medtronic USA Incorporated. The notice concerns a modification to Purchase Order 36C25723P0192 to add CLIN 2003, which was inadvertently overlooked in the original contract. The modification will cover Option Year 2, with a performance period from 04/24/2025 to 04/23/2026, and involves initiating a service contract for O-Arm and S8 equipment with EM Medtronic Inc. The procurement falls under NAICS code 811210 (Electronic and Precision Equipment Repair and Maintenance) with a small business size standard of $47.0 million. The notice explicitly states that this is not a competitive procurement request, but rather a notice of intent to award a sole source contract.
Interested contractors have the opportunity to submit capability information by 8:00 AM CST on March 4, 2025, to potentially demonstrate their ability to meet the requirement. All submissions must be sent via email to Mariangie Rios Vazquez, the Contract Specialist, and telephone inquiries will not be accepted. The VA will use any received information solely to determine whether to conduct a competitive procurement, and contractors will not be reimbursed for response preparation costs. If no affirmative written response is received within 5 business days of the notice's publication, the VA will proceed with forwarding the modification request to Medtronic USA Incorporated without further notice. The government retains full discretion in determining whether to compete the proposed contract based on any responses received. Potential respondents should carefully review the notice and be prepared to demonstrate their capabilities if they wish to challenge the sole source award.
