About this opportunity
The Department of Justice's Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole-source contract for IT Support Services (ITSS) under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This notice, posted on July 9, 2025, with a due date of July 11, 2025, pertains to critical IT services supporting the DEA's Diversion Control Division mission. The Diversion Control Division is responsible for preventing, detecting, and investigating the diversion of controlled pharmaceuticals and listed chemicals from legitimate sources while ensuring adequate supply for legitimate medical, commercial, and scientific needs. The contract falls under NAICS code 541511 for Custom Computer Programming Services and PSC code R408 for Professional Program Management/Support services. This procurement is classified as having no set-aside designation, indicating it is open to all eligible contractors.
The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to provide continuity of services as a bridge contract while DEA procures a follow-on contract for IT services supporting the Diversion Control Division's mission-critical operations. The IT services are essential for ensuring Controlled Prescription Drug and listed chemicals flow smoothly through legitimate channels while maintaining system security and protecting against vulnerabilities. The sole-source contract will enable DEA to maintain uninterrupted operations and establish system redundancy until a new contract award can be made. Given the extremely short timeframe between the posting date of July 9, 2025, and the due date of July 11, 2025, this appears to be a bridge contract with a predetermined contractor, likely the current holder of contract 15DDHQ18D00000018 referenced in the notice. The urgent nature of this procurement reflects the critical importance of maintaining continuous IT support for the DEA's pharmaceutical diversion control operations.
