About this opportunity
The U.S. Geological Survey intends to award a purchase order for an X-ray fluorescence core scanner to Cox Analytical Systems as a sole-source acquisition, with responses due by May 22, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time. USGS states that Cox Analytical Systems is the only known source capable of providing a machine that analyzes both wet and dry cores. The acquisition will follow Revolutionary FAR Overhaul Part 12 procedures for commercial products and services. USGS seeks an XRF scanner capable of analyzing marine sediment and mineral cores across both wet and dry states, detecting elements from magnesium through uranium at high precision and sensitivity, and analyzing samples up to 1.5 meters in length at 1 millimeter resolution or better, with appropriate X-ray safety shielding. Although this notice is not a request for competitive quotes, all responsible parties may submit quotations by the closing date; the Government reserves the right not to compete based on responses received. Submissions must be emailed in their entirety to elizabeth_adam@ios.doi.gov; only email-submitted responses will be considered. NAICS code 334516 (Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing; small business size standard 1,000 employees) and PSC code 6645 apply.
