About this opportunity

The Department of Energy National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) issued a notice of intent to sole-source a system upgrade for the AutoLab 1500 (Part Code AL0183) to NEW ENGLAND RESEARCH, INC. by August 27, 2026. NETL asserts that NEW ENGLAND RESEARCH, INC. is the only known source capable of providing the upgrade, which is required to ensure calibration accuracy, baseline continuity, and scientific validity with historical research data. The company is the original equipment manufacturer and possesses proprietary knowledge of the AutoLab equipment and software; NETL states that failure to use NER parts would pose operational risk and potential equipment loss that could severely impact project research and usability.

Any interested party believing it can meet the requirement must submit written evidence of capability to Contract Specialist Shannon Lynch at shannon.lynch@netl.doe.gov no later than 1 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time on August 27, 2026. The notice is not a request for quotes or proposals; responses will be considered solely to determine whether NETL should conduct competitive procurement. The Government retains sole discretion to award on a competitive or sole-source basis regardless of responses received.
