The Strategic Systems Program (SSP) intends to award a sole source Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) contract to the Raytheon Company. This contract will expand on technical trade studies, delivered under contract N00030-14-C-0048, which evaluated technology options, concepts and flight test plans for potential Intermediate Range Conventional Prompt Global Strike (IR CPGS) weapons focused on Launcher, Missile Body, and Glide Body technology areas for intermediate range approaches. The Contractor will define, refine and evaluate technology options, and compare the performance and technology cost considerations. Contract award is anticipated for the first quarter of fiscal year 2017.
This acquisition is being pursued on a sole source basis under the statutory authority 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1), as implemented by Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 6.302-1, "Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements." Under contract N00030-14-C-0048, The Raytheon Company developed and evaluated technology options and concepts with application to a broad range of potential IR CPGS architectures.
