About this opportunity

The Department of Veterans Affairs has issued a Special Notice of Intent to Award a Sole Source Procurement for janitorial services at the Tucson Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP). This notice specifically outlines the agency's plan to directly award a contract to Beacon Group, Inc., an AbilityOne vendor, without conducting a competitive bidding process. The procurement follows Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) sections 8.002 and 8.703, which establish priorities for using mandatory government sources and procurement lists. The notice is a formal communication of the government's intention to issue a sole source award for a new janitorial services requirement. By targeting an AbilityOne vendor, the Department of Veterans Affairs is supporting a program that creates employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

The primary purpose of this Special Notice is to inform potential contractors about the Department of Veterans Affairs' intent to award a sole source contract for janitorial services at the Tucson CMOP facility. The notice emphasizes that it is not a request for quotes, but a declarative statement of the government's procurement strategy. Eligibility for this specific contract is limited to Beacon Group, Inc., as an AbilityOne vendor, which means the company is part of a program that provides employment and training for individuals with significant disabilities. The notice aligns with federal procurement regulations that prioritize specific vendor categories and mandatory government sources. Contractors interested in similar opportunities should be familiar with FAR sections 8.002 and 8.703, which outline the framework for such sole source procurements. The notice serves as a transparent communication of the agency's procurement intentions and highlights the government's commitment to supporting businesses that provide employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
