About this opportunity
The U.S. Army Contracting Command - Aberdeen Proving Ground (ACC-APG) has issued a Special Notice announcing its intent to award a sole-source contract to Custom Gas Solutions, LLC of Durham, North Carolina for the supply and delivery of Cyanogen Chloride (CK) gas. This procurement is being conducted under FAR 6.302-1 authority, which allows for sole-source awards when only one responsible source exists. The contract will support chemical agent testing activities and follows a Request for Information (RFI) that was previously issued to assess market capabilities. Only Custom Gas Solutions responded to the RFI, demonstrating their unique ability to meet the government's technical and safety requirements. The notice was posted on August 14, 2025, with responses due by August 31, 2025.
The purpose of this procurement is to obtain up to 1,000 pounds of CK gas at 96% purity for chemical agent testing, specifically to evaluate filter effectiveness. The contract will span a 60-month ordering period with multiple shipments delivered to military facilities in Maryland and Arkansas. Key technical requirements include gas chromatography verification of purity, batch-level chemical analysis, stabilization to prevent polymerization at temperatures up to 122°F, comprehensive cylinder documentation including certificates of purity and production dates, and compliant hazardous material transportation. Since this is a sole-source procurement based on the single response to the previous RFI, no competitive bidding process is available to other contractors. The notice serves as advance notification to the contracting community in accordance with federal procurement regulations rather than a solicitation for proposals.
